Front Yard Walkway: Part 1

This is a project I actually started about a year ago, when I first thought about starting a blog.  Yes, I wasted a whole year worrying about what you all would think.  Well I'm done with that.  I want to do this, so I'm going to.

Ok, sorry, got a little sidetracked there.  So even though this project is about halfway done I will post it in a few posts so it looks like I am doing it now.  Wait, I just told you it is already halfway done so that kind of defeats the purpose.  You know what, just forget all that.

So, I have this idea for our front walkway.

Before picture time!!!  (I love this part.)

The front while walking up from the street.

Now a view from the front door walking out!

I mean seriously.  What is all that crap?  Overgrown weird bushes/shrubs; whatever they are called.  If I walked by this house I would think something along the lines of...  well I don't know, but I wouldn't like it!  That is for sure.

The Plan

Rip it all out!!!
Really, I want to pull up all the weeds and shrubs.  I do not think any of it should be allowed to stay.  Do you?

But Grumpy says no.  I will talk him into it.  You will learn that he often says no to my awesome ideas and then afterward is like "oh, yeah that looks good".  Yeah that is right Grumpy.  I am always right.  Some day he will learn to just listen to me.  In the mean time I will at least weed it and trim it down a little.

Let's see how that turned out.

A little better? No, not really but thanks for nodding your head.

Oh wait!  I forgot to tell you the rest of my plan.  I started rambling about Grumpy.  Boy, I could do that all day.

After I rip it all out (Or more accurately, after Grumpy rips it all out, wait, no me), I want to put down some rocks.  I don't want huge rocks or super little like gravel.  Just, you know, nice smooth rocks, like at the bottom of a lovely stream.  But not all slimy....  After the rocks are down, I will put in some of those wooden barrel planters with some pretty little shrubs and/or flowers.  It will look SO much better don't you think?  Comment a yes so Grumpy will be convinced!

Thanks I appreciate it.

Kisses~

Any ideas on flowers/shrubs to plant that don't need too much sun?
