Front Yard: Part 2

I finished the bench planter!! I love how it turned out, but I will start where I left off last time.  After Cheetah Boy had helped by bringing the old fence slats from the back yard. Doggie wanted to help.  However, the front yard isn't fenced, so I got nervous and put her in the back.  She was very sad.

So first I cut some old fence slats to the correct length and nailed them on the sides like so.

If you notice, I also placed a few pieces on top of the bench.  There was a large almost rotten through hole there, and I didn't want all the dirt to fall out.  Looks pretty good doesn't?  Oh, I also got some old boots from Goodwill not to long ago and made this.  LOVE.

Anyway, then I went to our local plant/garden store and purchased some supplies!

See that basket?  It is the one I got for 25 cents the other day at the garage sale.  I was thinking that would make a cute little planter also.  I choice some perennials for this project.  I want plants that will live through the winter and come back every year.  I was thinking I would be able to fit three plants on the bench and one in the basket.  Hmm.  Let's find out!  Pour in the dirt.

Like how I set my gloves there for a lovely picture?  Well actually I had to take them off to take the picture.  Anyway.  So time for the plants!

I think I need some more dirt.  And I only fit two plants... obviously.  And I am a little worried that the bench isn't really big enough for these two plants.  But I guess I will find out!  If they appear to not be doing well (or the bench falls apart), I will replant them somewhere else and find something else for the bench (or in the case of it falling apart, get rid of it).

There we go, more dirt!

Oh and here is how the basket planter turned out.

The finished project!!

Looking pretty good if I do say so myself.  I think I am satisfied for the moment for this front yard space.  At SOME point I would like to get some barrel planters for up in that space too.  You can see the whole space here.  Well at least more of it.  I thought I had a better picture of the whole front, but apparently I don't.  I will get one up at some point.

Anyway, don't you just love it?   I certainly do.  Oh, I was in the middle of talking about something wasn't I?  Yeah, I want some of the whiskey barrel planters around in this bark dust area, and I would like to add some more rock boarders around, however, for now I will be happy with that I have done!  (Grumpy laughs at this comment, and mumbles something about how I am never satisfied, whatever Grumpy.)  It does look very inviting and nice.

Kisses~
