1) It supports the local community.
2) It is cheaper.
3) (and my favorite) I know what is in it, because I canned it! There are not a bunch of weird chemicals.
I haven't had any crazy canning mishaps. I have had to play a lot of burner musical chairs because I only have TWO burners! So annoying.
The cabinet is filling up! I think I have made 14 pints of dill pickles, more green beans, and 35 quarts of peaches sense I last told you.
Oh and Grumpy helped me make applesauce! He cut the apples and took the core/seeds out and then I peeled them. It was very helpful. Thanks Grumpy!
That's a lot of applesauce!!
I ended up with 17 quarts of applesauce. I still need to do salsa, but out tomatoes are not all the way done. Oh boy. Will the madness ever end? Probably not.
What have you canned??
Kisses~
I look & am so proud of you! You are such a gifted homemaker! And you seem to have unending energy! :) I wish you lived near me so we could can & craft together! XO
ReplyDeleteI have never canned...can I have some of yours?? I will put them on my shelf and people will ask, "Wow, did you can those?" I won't answer; I will just smile and hopefully they will think that I did!! heh heh...The way I know what's in something is by reading the ingredients; is that old school???
ReplyDeleteOh, and you're awesome!! So is Grumpy!! AL
