How to Transform Your Wine Cabinet into a Shelf

So I thought of a super cool use for the wine cabinet deal that is like built into the wall.  Or screwed in, but Grumpy doesn't want me taking it down.

BEFORE!!!

So not the best thing to have hanging out in a daycare room.  Yes I had some binders in there, but I was like, "Hey! I could make it into a shelf somehow!!  So that I could put children's artwork for them to take home somewhere.

Hmm.  How do I do this?

First, I found a cardboard box that looked like each side would fit in for the shelves and got to work cutting.

Look!  there are shelved now.  But, because it is a wine shelf they are kind of slanted.  Paper probably wouldn't fall out, but I am worried about that kind of thing, and it still doesn't look that good.

So I cut out some more cardboard pieces to put on the front.

UGLY!  I need to cover them up so they are pretty.  Good thing my BFF gave me a bunch of scrapbook paper!!

Then you MIGHT remember "oh yeah, I was sewing and then I got totally distracted and started a completely new project!  Maybe I should turn off my sewing machine."

I used the hot glue gun to glue paper to the front.  I used two colors because the paper was not quite wide enough to cover  it completely.

Really!?!  It is too long and doesn't fit.  (sigh)  guess I have to RE DO it.  Super annoying.

Then I hot glued them all to the front!  Ta-da!!
Pretty cool huh?

But wait! It gets even cooler, I put some chalkboard stickers on the front to write kids' names.  Right now it says "Good job Super Mommy" but that didn't show up well in the picture.  Boo!

So there you have it!  If you have a wine shelf that your man wont let you take down, and you have it in a daycare room and want to cover it up and make it functionally, this is what you do!!:)  Yup, I'm awesome.

Have you checked out my Etsy Shop yet??
