Clean Checklist: Part 1

First of all, I'm on Pinterest now!  Click here to follow me!  I'll try to pin all my posts there too, so you can repin them away! Please.  Thanks.

I read something super cool a few minutes ago and would like to share it with you.  It is a quote by Gunilla Norris

"Time to dust again.
Time to caress my house, to stoke all its surfaces.
I want to think of it as a king of lovemaking...
the chance to appreciate by touch what I live with and cherish."

(I found this quote in "Simple Abundance" by Sarah Ban Breathnach (1995) )

Don't you just love that?  I do.  I love the idea of viewing your mundane chores of cleaning the house as something more caring and intimate.  We don't clean our houses, we take care of them in order to take care of ourselves and our families.  I realize this may look different for everyone. This may mean cleaning once a week, or if you are like me once a day.  But whatever, or however much you do, think about how you feel before and afterward and remind yourself you are not doing chores (yuck!) you are loving and caring for your home, the place where you and your family live.

One of the ways to make cleaning house more fulfilling (for me anyway) is to have lists of what needs done and crossing them out afterward.  I know it is a little silly, but it helps me see what I am doing and feel accomplished afterward.

I have seen and wanted to make a super awesome home management binder.  Where you have all sorts of lists for cleaning, cooking, shopping, and other home management stuff.  Like this one! Or this one!  (Sorry I would post pictures of them, but I don't want to get in trouble.  I'm still new here and not sure how to do all this. But I promise if you click on those links you will be happy!)

I even tried to come up with my own idea.  As I said, I love having lists and crossing stuff out; however, I hate wasting too much paper.  So I came up with this AWESOME idea to use like business card holders in a binder and then business cards with tasks to do each day.  I started it and then didn't like it.  Maybe I will bring it out again and try to finish it to show you guys in case you do like the idea and are wondering.

Anyway.  So right now all I have is a messy drawer, (which I need to clean out and organize) with all my random paperwork, bills and coupons, and then I came up with some lists, a daily cleaning list, weekly one and monthly one, and then I will write down the tasks to do on a whiteboard each day.  Well that is the idea anyway.  I did it for awhile and then was like no some of this stuff I need to do more often and some less often, and some stuff needs added to the list!  Here is what it looks like now.

Are you thinking "what a minute, that is the same to do list you posted on Facebook and Instagram like a month ago?"  Yeah I know, see I haven't been using it that great and have been feeling like I haven't been able to keep up with stuff!  So I am going to try using it again, and instead of thinking "Oh that is stupid I don't need to do that again.  My idea is stupid and I shouldn't do it", I will write notes and re-evaluate in a month to see what needs changed and make new lists!

Sorry if you think this stuff is boring, um you are crazy by the way if you do, but I LOVE this stuff. It makes my heart happy.  Simple.  Beautiful.  Organized.  That is how I want everything in my life.

Ok, have a good night!

kisses~

Do you have a cleaning/to do schedule?  How do you have it all organized?

  1. I'm with you on not wanting to waste paper! So I keep my to-do list on a spreadsheet on my laptop. I have columns for things that I need to do daily, weekly, monthly etc. Items that are bold need to be done and I un-bold them as my way of crossing them off. Not that I'm super productive but that motivation of being able to cross things off helps a little :)

    1. Oh nice! That's a great idea!:) And I agree, it is always nice to "cross" stuff out as you do it!
