Upstairs Hallway: Part 2

I was very anxious to finish the hallway before the paint, un-mixed and then would not be the same color!  When I opened the bucket the next day I was happy to see this.  It looks like the same color! Although I am worried I won't have enough to finish.  I can't really make more of it.

So I can't remember if I said this already, but I bought a different tape, just to see if it was any better. and OMG it worked SO much better!  I am a little nervous though along the carpet on the stairs.  I am not sure if tape will be enough to stop it, and carpet is a little harder to clean then the wood floors.  Just a little.  I will try to be more careful painting along the edges!

Paint, paint, painting away!  It is looking like it is all the same color!  Yay.

So this corner up here is going to be difficult.  It is on the stairs so I can't really use a chair or anything to get up there, but there is that tiny space between the top of the window and the ceiling.

Turns out, it was easier then I thought it would be, although I got a little paint on the ceiling.  Boo.  However now I am all done, and I had plenty of paint!  I even have some left over.

What do you think?

I like the color, a lot, but I almost feel like it is too pretty.   So I don't know if I will keep it.  Maybe I am just not used to having so much of my house now painted pretty colors and looking nice.  I am thinking I might paint stripes on to the wall now... not the whole hallway, just the wall on the side of the stairs.  I wish I could have a video camera to record Grumpy's expression when he reads that.  "Stripes?"  He will probably say.  Yup, maybe the off white color that is in the living room.  That would probably look good.  Hmmmmm.  I will think on it a little bit.

Kisses~

You think stripes would look good??

Upstairs Hallway: Part 1

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!!!  I did.  Grumpy had to work and Cheetah Boy was with his bio-dad's this year, so Little Miss, Doggie and I went out to my parent's house.  I wanted out of the city and all the crazy loud fireworks that would freak out the babies.

I have a new project!!!!

The boring upstairs hallway.  This is our family picture wall as well.  It should defiantly be pretty, not ugly and boring!  So here is my plan.  I have another gallon of that pretty blue I had painted the downstairs hallway.  (I thought it would take two gallons, but it only took one.)  However, I don't really want it the same color.  And I have some samples of white and greens from painting the living room, so I was thinking I would mix that all together and it would be a lighter blue-green.

Let's find out shall we?

So, I don't really know if this is a smart, allowable thing to do... like I am a little worried it is going to blow up or something, or let off some crazy poisonous fumes....  These are the thoughts that go through my mind.

Ok, here goes!

It looks pretty like that!  All swirling and marble-ly.

Mix, mix, mix.

I think I like how it turned out.  I guess I need to just paint the walls and find out!  If I hate it, I can always re-paint I guess.

Mmmm, I think I like it.

I was able to do most of the upstairs part in one "naptime".  I say "naptime" because I set Little Miss down for her nap, but she just played in her crib for like an hour and a half.  I think that means she is going to stop taking naps soon.  Noooooo.  But if she can at least take "quiet times" in her crib like that I guess it would be ok....

As, usual I was a little worried about what Grumpy would think.  And I like to play this game called don't-say-anything-and-see-how-long-it-takes-Grumpy-to-notice.  It took him several hours after arriving home from work, it is in the upstairs so I guess he didn't see it at first.  Want to know what he said?

"Hey, did you paint this?"

"Yes."

"What color was it before?"  Um, Grumpy do you live here?  Silly boy.

So there you have it, the beginning of the upstairs hallway!  I am a little worried that I didn't get it all done in one painting session because I mixed the paint myself, and I want it all to be the same color.  But I did use a bucket with a lid so hopefully the paint will stay good until I am able to finish it.

Entryway Part 4 (All DONE!!!!!! Well for now anyway)

Ok so here it is all done.  (Remember how it used to look?)  So weird. In some lighting the walls look the same color (they aren't!)  but in these pictures they actually do look different.  Well here they are. All done.  So very pretty.  It makes my soul smile when I walk in the door now.

This will be the child artwork wall.  So I had a couple white frames and got some picture ups.  You can't actually see them in this picture but they are drawings that Cheetah Boy did, and Little Miss has started scribbling so the one in the middle is hers.

Here is a close up of hers.

Oh and here she is, stuck in the stroller while Mommy tried to get some work done.  You got yourself in there Little Miss, you can get out.

Doesn't the wall look so pretty though?  Yes it does.  Overtime I will add more kids artwork, and switch them out as the kids grow and create new stuff.  I think I will stay with the white frames for all the artwork, but with different sizes.  It all just looks so much better.  So much better.  Grumpy is very pleased too.

So this is the end of this project right?  Now I can start a new one!!  I might need to take a break from painting though.  It has sure been keeping me busy!!

Kisses~

Do you have a child artwork wall?  What does it look like?

Entryway: Part 3

It has been a busy week for me, sorry I haven't had much posts up! I have been blogging so much, I was a little behind in my class and needed to catch up on some homework!

I made some progress on the entryway though!! I am so excited.  This is going to look so pretty.  So f'ing pretty.

Oh and no, the edger deal did NOT work!  Good thing I put the tape up too.  I guess it is kind of hard to see in this picture, but there is paint all over that tape!

This picture is of down the stairs.  I just painted that little wall deal the darker blue too.  Don't  you just love it??  Well that is another crappy picture.

Oh and I got a extend pole deal for the roller.  Wow!  I can reach the paint way down there when I stand on the chair!!

I was making Grumpy nervous standing on the chair over the stairs painting.  I was doing it on his day off (Bad choice, I usually do these things when he works so he doesn't back-seat-paint or whatever else.  But he was there to watch the kids, so I wanted to get some stuff done!  Anyway. So he helped a little.

Um.  So.  These blues are two different blues, but they look the same!  But they are different I swear.  You can see a little bit of the darker blue I accidently got on the lighter blue wall so you see they are different there.  But that's it!  Grumpy doesn't believe me that they are different.  Maybe when they dry it will be easier to tell.

Little Miss hanging out in Doggie's crate while I painted.  Silly thing!  The dog hates it, but Little Miss loves it!

I can't get the tiny top most corner!!!  It is really bugging me!  (And see in that picture they look like they are different colors.)  I don't know what I am going to do about that corner.  I will have to do something.  So annoying.  I like things PERFECT. That is defiantly NOT perfect.  But I couldn't reach it because I just had to use this other edger that I got (that does seem to work by the way) on the extend deal, and it just won't go into the corner.

Um.  I was just about to write some closing thought and I totally forgot what it was.  I hate it when that happens!  Omg, I can't remember.   Oh well I should go.  I would like to go to sleep, but sounds like Little Miss woke up and is crying for me.

I am almost done with this one!  I need to hang up the kids artwork and then it will be pretty much done!  Woohoo!  A finished project!  well I still have to get that stupid corner though.

Kisses~

No question! You get a free pass today:)

If you are not busy, read Part 2! Or maybe even Part 1! Sorry I guess I put that in backwards huh...?

Entryway: Part 2

I am going to try out a few new fun painting toys.  First of all, a edger thing to see if it will work so I don't have to tape so much.  And because I don't always feel like the tape works.  This thing. Stupid glare from the flash. Sorry folks.  I hope I can take a picture of a product and talk about.  I wonder if I could get in trouble for that...?  I'll let you know!  Or maybe not, because I'll be in jail.  Ok I'm freaking myself out.

I just deleted it because I freaked myself out too much.  So instead here is a picture of me using it, so you can't actually tell what it is....  It is a little roller thing with a flat deal at the end that is SUPPOSED to stop the paint from leaking I guess.

I think I will still tape AND use this deal and then if it doesn't work it I will see it on that tape, not the actual trim.  (Good thinking Super-Mommy!  Thanks.)

NEW SUBJECT.

While I was busy taping, I found this!  Naughty, naughty.  Clearly whoever painted this house last did not do a very good job taping either!  I think we should get a refund.

This is under the railing.  Really people?  Now that is just terrible!  You didn't even try!

All Little Miss let me get done.  Oh also all I could reach.  I need to get a extend dealy for the roller to reach up to the corner.  Looking pretty good though if I do say so myself!  Not really sure what the little rectangles are at the bottom.  Maybe that paint was more wet then the rest when I took the picture...? I don't know.

Check out Part 1 of this series here.

Kisses~

I can't think of a question again.  Tell me something random:)

Entryway: Part 1

I'm sorry.  I have a new project to share!

Moving upstairs!  Not sure Grumpy knows I am planning on painting the entryway area.... oh well.

Before Pictures!!

So if you were to open our front door this is what you would see when you walk in.  Well, kinda I guess you would see directly into the kitchen (you can see a tiny little bit of it on the right of the picture).  But that is our current "family picture wall", but I think I will switch that to the upstairs hallway/stairway wall.  Anyway, so yeah this is the entryway wall I want to paint.  See the lovely paint samples?  The color to the right is the one I used in the laundry room and that one wall downstairs.

Here is another view.  How the heck will I get all the way up in that corner?  I don't know!  We have some high ceilings.  It's silly. And yeah, I want to replace that chandelier.  It is so ugly.  So ugly.  Drives me crazy.  But one thing at a time, one thing at a time.

The Plan

So I'm thinking that I will paint the wall you see best in the second picture the same color I painted the laundry room and that lower wall you can see, and the other wall will be the darker blue and be a kids artwork type wall.  What do you think?  I care, I promise.  I might not do what you think I should!  OR you might give me some awesome idea that I love so much I give you a prize!  You never know!

Golly.  I feel like these before posts are a little on the boring side!  Sorry.  Please come back and see what I end up doing!

Kisses~

Is it confusing when I have a few projects going?  Should I just do one at a time?  Or are you thinking "I pretty much read your blog for the laughs and don't give a shit about the actual projects"?

(What happened to my favorite commenter?  Aunt Lori.  You left me.)

Downstairs Hallway: Part 6

Here it is.  The moment you have all been waiting for!  Don't just scroll down!  Please read me first!  Damnit, you already scrolled down and just saw the pictures and know what it is before you even finish reading this.  I wish I could cover them up and or something.

Ok, enough chit chat, since you already saw the pictures.  (Aren't they cute??)

When I was a child my Mom let us do this awesome thing on the walls by the stairway.  Want to know what it was?  That is right, paint our hands and put hand prints on the walls.  My Mom pointed out that there are hand prints all over the walls anyway from dirt, so why not make it cute?  So I thought it would be cute to let my children do the same.

Cheetah Boy was very excited!  "I have paint on my hand!"

Of course he needed to do more than one.

He even was able to paint some words! You will see in a moment what. Stop! You just scrolled down again! (grrrrr)  I love how hard he is concentrating here!  Notice the tongue?

Oh yeah, I painted that little crawlspace door too.

So cute.  I can't get over it!  I love it!

I know you have been waiting to find out what Grumpy thought!

Oh, stop.  It will be fun!  Little Miss wasn't sure what was happening.  (Notice the container full of soapy water and rags ready to wash off her hands as soon as it was over?  I was prepared, don't worry.)

She wiggled a little, but still cute!

Grumpy even wrote on the wall!!  I did not tell him he had to!  See, he isn't grumpy all the time, even though his face looks it.

Oh look!  Our hands are holding each other!  So sweet I could just puke!  Actually Grumpy totally messed it up.  See?  His hand is all messy.  Oh well. Can't do anything about it now!

Little Miss's  little print!

I just love how the whole thing turned out!  The kids' prints are below ours.  Sorry, Cheetah Boy wrote their actual names by their prints, and I would like to keep that private from the blog.  I realize at this point anyone reading this is probably family/friends anyway!  But you know, for when I become super famous and lots of people are going through reading my old posts!

So there you have it.  So cute!  Now go and do it on your own stairway walls!!  The kids love it and it is so cute!  (Want me to say it again?)  So cute!

Kisses~

Are you going to do this?!?

Downstairs Hallway: Part 5

Wow, just finish that hallway! It is just a hallway after all!!  That is what you are thinking right?  Well remember, I can only do projects while the baby naps!  So it takes like 100x as much as it normally would!  Ok, maybe not that long but you get the picture.

Sooooo,  I don't know what I dislike more; taping or taking the tape off.  I thought it was just going to be super easy and come right now.  WRONG. It totally sucks.

Stupid tape.  It keeps ripping and getting stuck on the upper-ledge-deal of the trim.  Tape, you are making me very angry.  Very, very angry.  And then when I do manage to rip it off all the way, this happens.

What is that little speck of paint?  It is NOT supposed to be there.  Why did I spend hours and hours taping it all up if it was going to leak through?!?!  I realize that nobody goes down this hallway except for me and this tiny speck is on the laundry room side of the doorway, and it is tiny and no one will see it.  But it annoys me.  So angry.

Now I need new trim.  Well, I want new trim everywhere anyway.  But might be a little tricky to convince Grumpy of that one....  Maybe I will 'accidently' get pain on the trim everywhere.

Yes, here I am carefully painting around the light switch where the tape covered too much and there was a white speck of the old paint. I think you are supposed to take these covers off while you paint. Well, I didn't so now I will fix all the stupid little specks.  Well the ones I can.

Stupid f'ing tape.

So this is how far the shelf would stick out. Hmm. I don't know. I will think more on that one. I need to be able to walk down that hallway carrying the laundry basket.  I might end of putting that shelf in the laundry room and finding something else for that wall.  I'll let you know what I decide.  Mm'k?

Now!  On to the super-duper-awesome idea I had for that other wall!!!  It turned out so cute. So stinking cute!!!

Actually I lied.  This post is long enough I will save it for next time.  So cute. It is so cute.

Kisses~

Are you really mad at me for not sharing the cute, cute, cute (did I mention cute) idea I have for the other wall?  Want to take a guess at what you think it is?

Downstairs Hallway: Part 4

We made some more progress on the hallway!  Cheetah Boy was pretty excited to paint!  Don't you just love those little rollers?  They are so cute!  And perfect size for a child!  Of course, Cheetah Boy wanted to use the bigger one... I told him next time. (Maybe. Hopefully he will forget I said that.)

Paint, paint, painting away!  We just love to paint!  (A song we sang while painting.  It is sure to be a hit, don't you think??)

"That is a thing to open the paint can with."
"NO! Don't paint there!!!"
"Because I need a smaller paintbrush to get the edges and corners."
"I use that to close the paint can."
"That is used to stir the paint before we use it."
"I tape the walls so we don't get paint places we don't want it."
"Because we don't want that painted."
"Be careful!  You are going to drip that on the floor!"
"Because I have to paint over where you did so I can get the drips."

And it went on and on and on.  The many questions of a 6 year old!!  Until.... (Drum roll please!)

It was all painted!!! Woohoo!!  Thank you very much Little Miss for taking a good nap; I wasn't expecting that!  I will now give you ice cream for supper.  Now time to take all the tape off!  Oh wait, see in that picture that little wall without paint?  Well, I mean without any new paint?  Well, I guess it has samples on it.  Whatever, you see that wall with the shelf full of DVD's in front?  I want to paint that a different shade of blue.  I will paint this little door to the crawlspace the same blue as well.

It's so cute!  And I will probably paint the laundry room that same color too and the ceiling maybe.  Or maybe a different shade.  I haven't decided yet.  Here is a close up of the samples, what do you think??

Clearly that is on a different wall than the one I showed you earlier.  It is on the other side of the staircase you see that I painted above....  OMG, this is confusing huh?  It's just a different wall ok.

Now I need to take the tape off and figure out the shelves I purchased... Wish me luck!  Oh and maybe I should get off and go pick up Cheetah Boy from school.  Yikes, I might be a little late!

Part 4 of a who-knows-how-long-project.  Read Part 1 here. Or maybe Part 2!  And then if you are up to it Part 3.

Kisses~

Which blue you think I should use?  Or are you thinking "Gross, you pick out the worse colors"?  (If you think that, then get off my blog! F'ing idiot.) Wow, I need to stop arguing with imaginary people!
